Ontogeny (the development or course of development especially of an individual organism.) When designing this sculpture and series I was inspired by architecture and structural engineering with emphasis on balanced supporting structures. The steel rods are placed through holes in the top plate then the concrete is formed over them. The hanging mass secured merely by the angles of the rods locked into place with the dried concrete. Five of the seven steel rods have a collar of glass tubing shard with a touch of melted aluminum around the edges.
